Experience the Sport of Fox Hunting in Central Maryland

Fox hunting with HCIBH reflects the traditional equestrian sport that brings together horses, hounds, and riders for an exhilarating day across stunning local hunt territory. Led by our Huntsman – Emily Lannigan, well-suited staff, and a trained pack of hounds, the field of members follows as the hounds follow a scent of an eager and thrilled fox. Depending on the country and conditions, which dictates the day’s hunting, a hunt may include everything from walking and trotting along wooded trails to galloping across fields and jumping natural obstacles such as coops, logs, and streams. Riders are organized into “fields,” based on pace and jumping preference, allowing experienced horse-and-rider combinations as well as newcomers to participate at an appropriate level. Steeped in tradition and etiquette, fox hunting combines skilled riding, teamwork, unpredictability, and a shared appreciation for horses, hounds, the land over which we are fortunate to ride – and most importantly – the fox!
